I was in the hospital last week for 2 nights on a Dilaudid PCA. Now taking po Dilaudid and Valium...but still experiencing breakthrough pain. Just needing moral support. I'm getting Potter MRI done tomorrow. Can't seem to get good pain control. Lyrica and Neurontin made me feel like I was on another planet, but maybe I should try them again.
thanks in advance,
cari

Re: HOSPITAL STAY
Sorry you're feeling bad
I have no experience with Lyrica, but neurontin turned me into a total space cadet for awhile and then I acclimated to it. It does effect my memory (which can be compensated for by a good calendar, lots of lists, always carrying pens and paper), and sometimes I have trouble stringing a sentence together, but that high feeling of being on another planet did not stick around.
I hope you find out good stuff on the MRI. Take care.

pelvic pain started 1985 age 14 interstitial cystitis. Refused medical care from age 17, did GREAT with self care for years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)
Tarlov cyst surgery with Dr. Frank Feigenbaum March 20, 2012.
Results have been excellent so far; but I won't know my final functional level for a couple of years.
