Re: Paulette
Hi Carolyn,
Thanks so much for asking about Paulette! That was very thoughtful of you! Yes, Paulette had unilateral TG surgery with Dr. Conway on Tuesday (08/23/11). Prior to the surgery, we went for a consult with Dr. Conway on Monday so he could personally review her medical records and history with her, and perform an exam . She aslo had an EMG test done that day. Dr. Conway took her images to St. Josephs hopsital in Nashua to review with a radiologist before meeting with her, as there was concern screws from a previous SIJ fusion surgery may be impeding on her sacral nerves. This was ruled out. Her EMG numbers reflected a significant delay of the pudendal nerve. Paulette did well with the surgery, but I'm sad to report that it was found her nerve was severely damaged (atrophied). We're hoping for the best, and Paulette realizes her recovery may take longer than others. She truly is a strong, brave person. She's pretty uncomfortable right now and does have the On-Q Pain Pump installed. This seems to be causing her additional surgical pain. The plan is that she'll be released from the hospital some time today and I'm looking forward to taking her and her mom back to their hotel and getting her settled.
Paulette did ask me to update the community when I saw her Tuesday afternoon, but she was kinda out of it from the anesthesia and said all kinds of crazy things (she was soooo cute!!!!!).
She doesn't even remember me being there! I'll be sure to tell her you where asking about her, Carolyn, and confirm she's OK with me sharing information about her.
With love,
Karyn

Re: Paulette
Update:
I just spoke with Paulette. She's still in a considerable amount of pain, so they're going to keep her in the hospital for another day.

Poor Paulette. She's already been through so much. Karyn, please give her a big hug for me. It's very sweet of you to be there for her.
Athlete until pain started in 2001. Diagnosed with PN in Nov. 2010. Probable cause: 3 difficult labors, 5 pelvic surgeries for endometriosis, and undiagnosed hip injuries. 60% better after 3 rounds of shockwave therapy in Cornwall, Ontario (Dec - Feb/12). 99% better after bilateral hip scopes for FAI and labral tears (April and July/12). Pelvic pain life coach Lorraine Faendrich helped me overcome the mind/body connection to chronic pain: http://www.radiantlifedesign.com

Hi Lernica,
Welcome back from vacation! I hope you had a nice, relaxing time.
I was going to stay home to rest today, but am heading up to the hospital instead. I will certainly pass along your well wishes and give her an extra hug from you.

Re: Paulette
Thanks for the update Karyn. I was thinking of Paulette on Monday and Tuesday and am glad to hear at least that they found the source of her pain. I am so sorry she is in so much post-op pain though. Hopefully an extra day in the hospital will help her. She is in my prayers.

Re: Paulette
Karyn,
I wonder where she was entrapped, I know she didn't have the money to get an MRI so never really knew. She was concerned about doral nerve entrapment. Do you know that info? I only ask because I care about her.....

Re: Paulette
It sounds like she has had a really rough time and SO needed that op. Please send her lots of love from me Karyn.
Fall 2008. Misdiagnosed with lumber spine problem. MRN June 2010 indicated pudendal entrapment at Alcocks canal. Diagnosed with complex variant piriformis syndrome with sciatic, pudendal and gluteal entrapment's by Dr Filler 2010.Guided piriformis botox injection 2011 Bristol. 2013, Nerve conduction test positive; new spinal MRI scan negative, so diagnosed for the 4th time with pelvic nerve entrapment, now recognised as Sciatic, pudendal, PFCN and cluneal nerves at piriformis level.
