dorsal nerve injections: Hibner

Post by smitzel »

Has anyone heard of these new Dorsal Nerve injections that Dr. Hibner is doing for clitoral pain/ penile pain? I heard they are relatively new and they are getting good results but no other info. I have called Dr. Hibner's office a few times and no one calls me back...very frustrating. Any info would help. thanks.

When you call Dr. Hibner's office make sure you ask to speak with Patti. She will call you back. If you leave a message on the line for the nurse I have found they aren't good about calling back.

I did hear some news from Patty at Dr. Hibner's office about the dorsal nerve injections for the clitoris or penis pain. They are a mixture of an anesthetic and steroid. He wants u to do 3 just like the other PN injections but here is the kicker...they are done in the hospital b/c you have to be put under for them b/c they are so painful! Yikes. this scares me. Has anyone done this? Patty said he has done about 20 so far and getting pretty good results. I don't have an appt w/ him until December, 1st time i could get in. Carolynm, What do u think?

Are these injections part of the selected guide blocks, to try and differentiate between any problem proximal to or within Alcocks canal, talked about on blogtalk radio a while ago. Didn't know they had to be done under anaesthetic!
It would be good to hear from anyone who'd had the procedure done.
Fall 2008. Misdiagnosed with lumber spine problem. MRN June 2010 indicated pudendal entrapment at Alcocks canal. Diagnosed with complex variant piriformis syndrome with sciatic, pudendal and gluteal entrapment's by Dr Filler 2010.Guided piriformis botox injection 2011 Bristol. 2013, Nerve conduction test positive; new spinal MRI scan negative, so diagnosed for the 4th time with pelvic nerve entrapment, now recognised as Sciatic, pudendal, PFCN and cluneal nerves at piriformis level.

I am thinking about getting injections from Hibner but of a different nature. He has already performed two prodecures and has a few more scheduled on the books where they inject a drug into the bundle of veins that are currently compressing my pudendal nerve near dorsal nerve of the penis. The pain I feel is almost always penile, and the injections have helped the two patients substantially. The problem is however is there is a high risk that if the drug that is injected leaks out of the veins I could develop a pulmonary embolism which is a very dangerous situation. Dr. Hibner was not sure of the likelyhood of this since there is no data with the pelvic veins but he was genuinely concerned with that risk and I am as well. I will wait for the two men to go and see their results and then I will probably end up doing this procedure because I am tired of being in pain and the traditional surgeries would not work for me the doctors have stated.

That is really interesting abmia,
There are a couple of people on here that have had Hollis Potter imaging showing veins as the possible reason for compression and were not sure how to proceed.
This problem is obviously something that needs to be addressed so hats off to Dr Hibner for trying this. I hope it goes wonderfully well for the 2 guys ahead of you and then you can have the procedure done with more confidence. Good luck.

abmia,

I wouldn't worry about the pulmonary embolism aspect...I guess I'm still new to the group and getting my pain under control so anything in my mind is worth the risk. Could they put you on Lovenox to prevent blood clot to lung? I'm a nurse and we do that with so many patients.

best of luck to you, sorry you have to wait so long for your appt. The waiting is frustrating.
