Packing for summer vacation

Packing for summer vacation

Post by Lernica »

I am in the midst of packing for a two-week vacation at a cottage. What a chore! My list is endless. It reminds me of packing when my kids were little -- bottles, formula, diapers, diaper rash cream, etc. -- except now all the stuff is for me! Here's my list:

baggie of Lax-a-day
magnesium (for constipation)
multivitamins
evening primrose oil (a natural anti-inflammatory)
special home made granola with lots of roughage
oxycodone
extra-strength advil (for bad hip)
anti-depressants
clonopin (like Valium)
lidocaine ointment
Penaten ointment (to soothe bottom)
Vagifem (estrogen suppositories)
estrogen pills
elbow pads
elbow bandaids
ziplock baggies (for ice)
pain diary
pullbuoy (floaty thingy to put between legs for swimming)
no-tug bathing suit
running shorts (for swimming if the bathing suit chafes)
trusty custom-made seat cushion

All this just to be comfortable, something which everyone else simply takes for granted! And of course I fear I have forgotten something. Thank God I'm not flying or they'd think I was a drug runner. ("Officer, I swear it's laxative powder, not cocaine!")

Enjoy the rest of your summer, everyone. I look forward to catching up with your posts in two weeks.
Athlete until pain started in 2001. Diagnosed with PN in Nov. 2010. Probable cause: 3 difficult labors, 5 pelvic surgeries for endometriosis, and undiagnosed hip injuries. 60% better after 3 rounds of shockwave therapy in Cornwall, Ontario (Dec - Feb/12). 99% better after bilateral hip scopes for FAI and labral tears (April and July/12). Pelvic pain life coach Lorraine Faendrich helped me overcome the mind/body connection to chronic pain: http://www.radiantlifedesign.com
