migraines with constipation?

Post by pianogal »

does anyone else get migraines with constipation?

this all started for me after my TIR surgery in france... I have no idea why.
When I cut out dairy, it went away, but then after I had Botox w/Dr. Hibner this Monday,
now the constipation with Migraines is back... to a lesser extent.
Can Migraines be connected to my pelvis and do others have this experience?
-straddle fall age 4-7 w/bleeding labia, tampons hurt in teens, papsmere started annoying pelvic 'tingling' & pne in 02
-obturator surgery w/ Filler in 05 (useless, created sciatic & plantar fascitis pain)
-TIR surgery w/ Bautrant in 08 and vestibulectomy in 08 in France (vest. removed pain w/intercourse, pain w/sitting increased post surgery)
-chronic fatigue & food allergies/migraines (gluten, milk) from pain meds in 08
-want a life back. I'm 34 w/8+ years of pain

I had migraines associated with pelvic joint dysfunction, because the kinetic compensation for the pelvis is in generally the upper neck. I don't understand why you would get this from constipation, but in some way it seems like the mechanism would be similar...maybe muscular starining in the pelvis strains neck muscles as well? Total guess...all I know is I my migraines started at the same general time that I got interstitial cystitis from a pelvic injury, and I lived from that point forward with chronic migraines and a torqued pelvis But when my pelvic joint dysfunction was released, my neck released spontaneously without treatment. So there is some kinetic communication between the two regions.
pelvic pain started 1985 age 14 interstitial cystitis. Refused medical care from age 17, did GREAT with self care for years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)
Tarlov cyst surgery with Dr. Frank Feigenbaum March 20, 2012.
Results have been excellent so far; but I won't know my final functional level for a couple of years.

The kinetic compensation between the pelvis and neck is totally interesting! Thanks for sharing that info.

I get also migraines from constipation. I always thought it was becuase being backed up left too many toxins in my body but maybe there is a different connection? I also have very bad TMJ and the constipation and pelvic pain both make the TMJ pain increase as well.

What have you tried so far? Migraine medications work for some people. Here's a link to a list of common migraine meds: http://tinyurl.com/3fu8msb

I've also heard Botox injections help some people.

Have you been tested for allergies? If you have any severe allergies that could be causing your migraines, allergy injections might help. I have a family member who was helped by allergy injections.
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
