Need to lose 30lb

Here is a place for social chats with special attention to support and non medical discussions. We need a place to chill out, where we can distract from our pain and enjoy lighter moments, share a joke or funny moment with others.

Missy,
I've never been on Weight Watchers but did try Jenny Craig and Nutri System without success; the only weight loss program that ever helped me was self designed.
I agree with calluna about the emphasis on processed foods and also I suspect WW is based on a low-fat diet, whereas personally I am very carb sensitive and can really totally ignore fat content as long as I reduce my calories and carbohydrate intake.
I don't think "programs" work very well, because they advise you what to eat as if we were all alike. Like the programs I have tried will encourage cereal or fruit for breakfast, but the only way I do well is by having a small non-carb breakfast, like an egg or a slice of ham rolled with a slice of cheese. Otherwise I start on a crazy blood sugar roller coaster and I'm hungry all day long.
Maybe you should get off the weight watchers and listen to your own body a bit; count calories instead of "points" - don't go ridiculously low; 1200-1800 per day is quite reasonable...and see what kinds of foods suit you best within that limit.
Please don't give up! see what you got us all into, LOL ;) pleeeze stick with us? Pretty please?
pelvic pain started 1985 age 14 interstitial cystitis. Refused medical care from age 17, did GREAT with self care for years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)
Tarlov cyst surgery with Dr. Frank Feigenbaum March 20, 2012.
Results have been excellent so far; but I won't know my final functional level for a couple of years.

YEAH Missy!!! Keep at it. It's a struggle that we are all in together.
Have been dealing with burning pain since Jan 2010.
No sitting since April 2010.
Seen the following dr's: DO, GYN, Dermatologist, Accupuncturist,
URO GYN (his RN is the one who suggested the pain could be PN), Neurologist
Had ECG and MRI both inconclusive, only the SSEP said Pudendal reaction was abnormal and they lost that test result.
Saw Dr. Castellanos April 6, 2011. Next steps, MRI and botox. Having PT while waiting.-Botox denied, appealing to Insurance company now. :(

Folks

It is not easy to exercise with our pain causes.....I have so far lost another 3 pounds this week....am pleased about this but would like to lose far more and more quickly...its been hot here and Ive been tempted by BBQ's and also have upped fluids to combat hot temps....possible fluid retention I think.

Keep it up everyone....!!!!
PNE started 2003 following Vaginal Hysterectomy, pelvic floor repair and right oophorectomy; eventually after many tests had BilateralTG surgery Nantes 2004; following this tried many other treatments including 7 day epidural, ketamin infusions to no avail; Trialed and was implanted with a Neurostimulator in 2007- Dr Van Buyten Belgium, this has enabled me to manage my pain much better.

It is with great pleasure that I am able to announce - that I have actually got back to my starting weight! I've lost the weight I gained! :D :D :D

See?

And that is despite getting an Indian takeaway the other evening, too. I do feel rather pleased with myself. Now! I need to start actually losing! You are all doing so brilliantly, I am definitely tail end charlie at the moment.

Next goal is to get below 12 stone. I have exactly as far to go now as I did when we all started. Hmmm.

Calluna

Dont stress as you ahv ehad to encounter many medication changes over the past few weeks.....many of which are prone to weight gain etc.

I have lost some weight but not as much as I would have liked...in fact as the weather is far warmer than normal i feel more bloated and much heavier than I would like.......we are never happy!

Well, I am really struggling here. I have gained two pounds again, once again I am above my starting weight.

Something has crossed my mind - could this be due to the Lyrica? I remember someone else talking about this, and I was saying restrict carbs and you'll not gain weight. Ok, that turns out to be the case, for me - two pounds up and two pounds down is no big deal. I haven't gained any significant amount.

But what if I wasn't trying to lose weight? I think I'd be gaining weight like nobody's business! I think I need to cut down my portion sizes even more.

Is anyone else in our little group taking Lyrica?

Well done Amanda
http://www.pudendalhope.info/forum/post ... =11&t=1463#

I haven't lost any weight but I'm being very lazy with winter weather here in Australia. No excuse I know. Calluna, I do think Lyrica is a culprit for weight gain.
I also know that I vowed to stop eating so much carbs. ie bread, potatoes etc. but I do it for a few days then miss my toast in the mornings. I comfort myself with food. I also think being at home most of the time makes us eat more because I don't eat for 5 hours when I'm at work. I have an apple on the way home.

I'll really need to try a lot harder. Especially since I plan to have a 6 week holiday in Scotland/Ireland next year.
