estrogen cured all chronic itching and burning

Post by kat »

My friend and I who had internal, vaginal burning, vaginal inflammation, burning with urination and itching have both been cured with estrogen cream.

It take 2 - 3 weeks for estrogen to be absorbed so the samples the docs hand out are not large enough to truly know if it can help you or not.
I have no estrogen in my vaginal goo and due to being very wet by nature all my many OBs never thought of estrogen as a problem.

3 grams of estrogen 3 times daily has cured me of itching, burning, burning with urination, my cervix is soft and moves around again and my vagina is almost an inch deeper due to being able to go in with a dilator and massage and stretch my pelvic floor muscles now that the burning and vaginal inflammation is gone.

Ins. does not cover this amount so I had to fight and have my doc call and OVER RIDE the ins company by explaining my PN issues.

Premarin is what I use in the USA and when I skip a dose the inflammation comes right back along with the burning and itching.

Estrogen cured ALL vaginal issues with me and now I have no chronic burning or itching so I'm sharing so you have you estrogen levels checked and try the cream before doing more drastic things. I had the surgery and needed it, but my friend was like me for 3 years and is now CURED due to estrogen cream.

I just want to share because I thought as long as I was wet I was fine and that IS NOT the case. Wet does not mean estrogen is there to heal and make the skin thick and healthy.

I get burning and itching when I get inflamed by working out or using dilators and that is getting better with time. I wish someone had told me this years ago so I'm telling you now. Please look into it as you search for a cure for the burning.

Thanks for sharing Kat. I had just read about estrogen in the book I've been reading, The V Book, by Elizabeth Stewart, M.D. I had avoided reading this book because I thought it was just about Vulvodynia and I hated that diagnosis because it was so vague. But I think Faith had mentioned it in one of her posts, and I decided to pick it up at the library to see if I could get any info or help from it. It turned out to be a very good resource. She even says that vulvodynia is actually pudendal neuralgia. I highly recommend it for all women to read even if even they have healthy V's because as I found out it is not actually about vulvodynia but just the health of your vulva/vagina.

I was given a prescription for Estrace quite a few months ago when I talked to my gyn about the raw, dry feeling. I only used it a couple of times because I was still looking for quick fix back then. But I think I will try it again and give it more time.
Burning vulva pain began 10/09
Treated for SIJD 9/10 and burning stopped and pain localized to rt side
Surgery w/ Dr Dellon 5/11 - didn't help my pain

5/13 - still have obturator internus spasms

8/16/13 - Arthroscopic surgery to rt hip for FAI and torn labrum

The V book is a good one and I would recomend it as well.

I have no idea about men and estrogen. I know my testosterone levels were always a little on the high side so men may have estrogen in them. You would have to ask a doc to see if it is an option for you. I would be very interested to know what men do for the same issues so if you find answers please share them so others can learn.

Good luck and be sure to talk to your docs about what you are doing. Don't do anything without docs telling you it is safe for you. We are all different so be safe.

Did your burning with urination burn before the urine actually came out? Or did it not burn until the urine hit the skin? I burn with urination but mine burns before the urine even comes out and hits the skin.

Does anyone know if this product is available in the UK or Ireland?
I remember asking my GP about an oestrogen cream and he didnt think there was one available.
I wonder if I can order some online to try it out; in the past Ive tried oestrogen pessaries that were used vaginally but as i had no secretions the tablet didnt dissolve.
PNE started 2003 following Vaginal Hysterectomy, pelvic floor repair and right oophorectomy; eventually after many tests had BilateralTG surgery Nantes 2004; following this tried many other treatments including 7 day epidural, ketamin infusions to no avail; Trialed and was implanted with a Neurostimulator in 2007- Dr Van Buyten Belgium, this has enabled me to manage my pain much better.

Hello Kat,

Are you saying that your friend had pudendal-like symptoms, took estrogen, and was cured? Wow! This is something to seriously consider checking. I had my estrogen levels checked and was told they were normal but it's worth checking into again, especially if one could avoid surgery all together.

Thank you for this valuable tip!

My main problem right now is rectal burning though. I've been told I have PFD (short and contracted pelvic muscles.) I wonder if there a possibility estrogen could help me?

Ms Rivers,

I have found that a custom-made ointment consisting of 6% gabapentin and 5% lidocaine in a Diffusimax base is very helpful for rectal burning and itching. In fact I couldn't live without it. I doubt that an estrogen cream could relieve rectal burning, but I could be wrong.

Probable cause: 3 difficult labors, 5 pelvic surgeries for endometriosis, and undiagnosed hip injuries. 60% better after 3 rounds of shockwave therapy in Cornwall, Ontario (Dec - Feb/12). 99% better after bilateral hip scopes for FAI and labral tears (April and July/12). I agree about the estrogen; I'm certain that anybody here who gets relief with it is using it for vaginal issues. I have heard a lot of people do pretty well on the compounded creams for rectal burning. Some use valium in theirs but I'm not sure what the strength is.
PNE as a result of childbirth, 2002. Treatment by the Houston team, with neurosurgery by Dr. Ansell in 2004. My left side ST and SS ligaments were found to be grown together, encasing the pudendal nerve.

I am cured. I hope you will be, too.

There are no medical answers on the forum. Your only hope is to go to a doctor. I was very happy with the Houston team, which has treated the most PNE patients (well over 400), more than any other US provider.
