Karyn's surgery
Re: Karyn's surgery
I live 3 hours south of the Orlando area. The first appt. is a 2 hour evaluation and then PT. Then 1 1/2 hrs. of PT the next 4 days. I had my records from Dr. Conway and Dr. Quesada sent there. I hope that is helpful. Judy
Symptoms came on so slowly they were hard to explain to anyone much less myself. Discomfort sitting one day and not the next. Foreign object feeling in various private parts. Doctor to doctor. Mis- diagnosed many times. Un-needed surgery, depression pills and finally a diagnosis of PN. EMG testing in NH. Unsuccessful nerve blocks. Will start PT in a few weeks. Finally I don't think I'm crazy!!!
Re: Karyn's surgery
Hi Judy,
Great idea to have your records forwarded! Wow! 1-1/2 hours for each PT session?!? Now I'm even more interested to hear about how it goes! When I was going, my visits were only 30 -45 minutes long. At first, I thought that was kinda short but was told that "they didn't want to over do it with the patients".
Personally, 30 minutes was just fine with me. But now I'm wondering: what's the average time? Hmmm ... I think I'll start another thread!
Warm regards,
Karyn

Re: Karyn's surgery
Hi Dee!
Quite honestly, I am not a proponent of nerve blocks. I had (2) rounds of bilateral PN blocks and ilioinguinal blocks with Dr. Quesada. I highly recommend sedation for the procedure.
Everyone is different, but I did experience horrendous pain flares after the blocks. The last set I had (July) gave me sit bone pain that never went away. Finally, after the 2 rounds of blocks, I had a lidocaine infusion which was completely ineffective. On a more positive note, I really do like Dr. Q and think he's a very compassionate doctor. Hopefully, you'll be able to discuss your concerns with Dr. Q prior to the procedure. Are you from the NH area or are you travelling?
I wish you the very best with your treatments. I agree with you about the EMG, too! Worst torture ever!!!!!
Warmest regards,
Karyn

Re: Karyn's surgery
Hi Krissy,
Yes, you can request sedation. But I'd do it before you get there. If I remember correctly, you're supposed to withold food.
