Re: So depressed and truly hopeless
Dee I understand how you feel about people stop caring or just tired of us hurting. I have been depressed also but I go on into work becuase it helps me function. We just have to keep praying and TRUSTING God through all this. On top of pn pain I have other stresses in my life that makes the pain worse. I pray God comfort you and bring you through this. Are you on meds?

Re: So depressed and truly hopeless
"Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you." - 1 Peter 5:6-10
This will probably either get edited out for being a religious comment not in the religious forum, or else since the theme of the post has been fairly spiritual maybe the whole thread will just get moved down there. Anyway I hope you see it and remember that God's promises include troubles and suffering but that this never negates His love. The devil likes nothing better than to see you begin to doubt and shrink back from the one thing that can lift you up in the midst of your suffering: your faith.
I started a thread of Bible verses awhile back in the Spirituality section: http://www.pudendalhope.info/forum/view ... f=12&t=785 . Please read and add some, I know you have them in you.

pelvic pain started 1985 age 14 interstitial cystitis. Refused medical care from age 17, did GREAT with self care for years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)
Tarlov cyst surgery with Dr. Frank Feigenbaum March 20, 2012.
Results have been excellent so far; but I won't know my final functional level for a couple of years.

Re: So depressed and truly hopeless
While some meds reduce symptoms for some people, PNE is a structural problem and no medicine will fix it. Structural problems require structural solutions.
It sounds like the first step for you might be seeking effective treatment for depression, because self advocating to get proper treatment on a limited budget is going to take personal initiative, and you are going to have a hard time with that when clinically depressed.
There are resources to tap through insurance appeals, Federal or State aid for Medical and Disability, etc: But to navigate all of that you will need to be in a sound state of mind.
Prayers and best wishes to you.

Re: So depressed and truly hopeless
Dee, you aren't wasting our time. The reason we are here is for people like you because many of us have been there ourselves and we know what it's like. There was a time I had no hope that things would get better and didn't have much reason to keep living. Antidepressants didn't help because depression was due to pain and as long as the serious pain was there I was still depressed. No amount of psychotherapy helped either -- I needed pain relief! So, maybe this is the opposite of what HM said but for me, seeking pain relief was paramount because that was the only way to get rid of depression.
So what type of steroid injections did you have? Were they pudendal nerve blocks at the ischial spine or alcock's canal? What are your docs suggesting next since the injections only helped for a few hours?
If you are too depressed to plan out an entire course of action can you make a plan to do one thing next -- just take one day at a time and plan out one thing at a time?

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Dear Happy,
Are you taking any drugs for nerve pain, e.g. Neurontin or Lyrica? I have found Neurontin to be quite helpful in taking the edge off the pain. With PN you may have to try several different drugs, or combinations thereof, to see what works for you. Once you find the right combination you will start to feel better.
We have all been where you are now and will always be here to support you.
Warm regards,
Lernica

Athlete until pain started in 2001. Diagnosed with PN in Nov. 2010. Probable cause: 3 difficult labors, 5 pelvic surgeries for endometriosis, and undiagnosed hip injuries. 60% better after 3 rounds of shockwave therapy in Cornwall, Ontario (Dec - Feb/12). 99% better after bilateral hip scopes for FAI and labral tears (April and July/12). Pelvic pain life coach Lorraine Faendrich helped me overcome the mind/body connection to chronic pain: http://www.radiantlifedesign.com
