Personal Information:
Professional Biography / Training:
I qualified from Guy’s Hospital London in 1984 with a MB BS and Bsc Hons. Since 1985 I have had a clinical interest in Pain Medicine and as a result of that early interest in Pain Medicine, I have been able to accumulate considerable experience over the years which resulted in my obtaining an MD in 1993. My FRCA was obtained in 1988.
I am the Immediate Past President of the Pain of Urogenital Origin (PUGO), a Specialist Interest Group of The International Association for the Study of Pain. I now chair their taxonomy group. I am a member of the Section for Anaesthesia Council of the Royal Society of Medicine and as well as organising their pain meetings, lead their Steering Group for the Setting up of a Pain Subsection. I am a Royal College for Anaesthetists Regional Advisor for Pain Medicine.
Evidenced based pain medicine guidelines are important and I contribute in this area as a member of the European Association for Urology working group on Chronic Pelvic Pain. Also as a member of the European Association for the Study of Bladder Pain Syndrome / IC Group and have been a member of International Continence Society Pelvic Pain Group. I have contributed to a number of National Institutes of Health (NIH) meetings and working groups.
Joined UCLH: 1994
