Re: Is PN always one sided?

There is a group looking at creating a revised criteria. The Nantes criteria is for pudendal neurlagia, NOT for pudendal entrapment. They can co-exist but are not the same.

Re: Breast cancer hormones

A very difficult situation. Do have the spefici details about her breast cancer diagnosis? I have never heard of PN getting much better with estrogen treatment and it doesn't make sense to me. Do you know what the cause of pudendal symptoms were beileved to be? I am of the opinion that she should ha...

Re: Introduction

I second the recommendation to see a good pelvic PT. you may want to look for one here: https://hermanwallace.com/list-of-certified-pelvic-rehabilitation-practitioners From your story (how it started and how you use external bracing when coughing), I think you did have a pelvic injury (tendon avulsi...

Re: Hello, new here

Capricorn, I don't see anything in your description that makes me think you have PN (i'm sure there is more to your story, just going off what I know). I assume by now you have a had a cystoscopy which was negative, and you don't have IC. In that case, consistent with your description, you have blad...

Re: New Here, Hello All

AZ, Low back problems are more likely a symptom of the problem for you than a cause, which seems to be originating in pelvic floor muscles. The best place to start is with a well trained pelvic health PT. This site is a good resource: https://hermanwallace.com/list-of-certified-pelvic-rehabilitation...

Re: Is PN always one sided?

Violet is right that PN does not necessarily mean entrapment. The five essentials diagnostic criteria for PN are: (1) Pain in the anatomical territory of the pudendal nerve. (2) Worsened by sitting. (3) The patient is not woken at night by the pain. (4) No objective sensory loss on clinical examinat...

Re: Can steroid injection to S2-S4 help PN

Hi, Did someone make this diagnosis or is this a term you are using to describe your current pain? Steroid can be injected around the S2-S4 nerves individually through openings (foramen) in the sacrum. This is usually just done at one spinal nerve level. To get to all the sacral nerve roots of the p...

Re: Injections

The least likely explanation if that you are somehow resistant to the effects of botox. More likely is that the medication did not go into the right place or the dose was inadequate. How was your OI injection done? It can be doen through the vagina by palpation in a woman or through the buttock unde...

Re: botox to release pudendal nerve from alcocks canal

Alcock's canal is composed of fascia, not muscle, and as such does respond to Botox. However, this fascia does cover the obturator internus and increased tension in the muscle can be translated into greater tension in the fascia and potentially exert a stretch on the nerve. OI is one of the best tar...

Re: How many botox vials for a piriformis?

Branded Botox for non-cosmetic use is only available as 100 and 200 unit vials. I have done many Botox injections into the piriformis muscle (and other pelvic muscles). How much one uses depends on the size of the muscle. For the piriformis I use 75-100 units per side. As an aside, I recommend not a...
