Re: PFD therapy gone wrong?
I had this same issue although not caused by a PT. Getting checked for anal fissures or 'roids is a good idea as fissures especially can cause both sharp pain and dull aching and cause the sphincter to spasm causing intensive pain, foreign object sensations and thin stools. Your PT could have been p...

Re: Facing Another Hip Surgery w/PN
I've made the decision to go forward with left hip surgery. I hope it goes as smoothly as the right. I wasn't able to get the pain to decrease until I had a cortisone shot into the left hip. Because I had a positive reaction, I decided to try surgery. To be clear, I'm having surgery because of my or...

Re: Femoral Acetabular Impingement (FAI) and Pudendal Nerve
Although I did see Dr. Ernest Sink at HSS before getting set up for hip surgery (not the best appt), I haven't seen Dr. Kelly or Coleman. My right hip scope was done by Dr. Shane Nho at Rush in Chicago. I can't recommend him highly enough. He and his staff took my pelvic pain seriously. They had me ...

Re: Facing Another Hip Surgery w/PN
Thanks for your reply, Violet. Only someone who's had PGAD understands how difficult this is and how big a risk surgery is. I called and got an appt for a prolotherapy consult. Maybe I can get the ortho pain to settle. I'm actually hoping that my right hip has retorn. At least that way I know I can ...

Facing Another Hip Surgery w/PN
Once again, facing another surgery and terrified.....I have PNE surgery with Dr. Hibner in August 2011, slipped and fell on right hip Jan 2012, got confirmation of bilateral labral tears and FAI June 2012, and finally had right hip surgery with Dr. Shane Nho in May 2013. 2 years of PT -- not even pe...

Re: Where to go from here
Shana, Did you go back to Dr. Coleman post hip surgery to try to figure out why you continue to have hip pain? Did you have more xrays and MRIs? Did he offer a cortisone shot(s)? Were you thoroughly checked out for hip dysplasia? Did you get more than one opinion before the hip surgery? Is there any...

Re: Did labral tear surgery reduce your PN/pelvic/perineal p
Has anyone experienced increased PN symptoms after a hip injection? On the 17th, I had a marcaine injection into my left hip (the bad PN side) and ever since then, I've had an awful PN flare. I'm terrified, and my PTs don't know what's going on.

Re: Labral hip tear MRI
Yes, a MR arthrogram (which is the MRI with contrast) or a 3T MRI is necessary. Regular MRIs will not pick up on labral tears in most cases. If you're looking to identify possible hip issues, a regular MRI is practically useless. You'll want a MRA/3T MRI, good set of xrays (done by a hip specialist ...

Re: Did labral tear surgery reduce your PN/pelvic/perineal p
FYI, aside from Dr. Coleman, here are two more PN-aware hip scope surgeons, both in Minnesota: Dr. Trousdale (Rochester) and Dr. Larson (Minneapolis). I'm not sure Dr. Trousdale is PN aware, and he isn't a scope dr - he does PAOs and, I think, open dislocations. I know he was mentioned on a recent ...

Re: Hip surgery or Pudendal Surgery first?
I had pudendal decompression Aug 1, 2011 and then fell Jan 2, 2012. Fast forward a few months and I find out I have bilateral FAIN labral tears, and mild dysplasia. I really wish I had gotten my hips checked before pudendal surgery. Hip surgery has helped some people's PN pain improve. Pudendal surg...
