Re: New to the forum
I can understand that dread of just not knowing what is wrong. Doctors always say "when you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras." We're the zebras. Also, if it does turn out to be PN/PNE, you're lucky to live in Phoenix (I do too!). We have two wonderful specialists, Dr. Hibner and Dr...

What to expect after surgery
I'm having surgery with Dr. Castellanos on the 20th, and although I have a handout about what to expect, I'd like to hear from people who have gone through it. What were your experiences after surgery?

Re: Continuous cycle birth control
Risks of being on the pill and stopping periods entirely vary for each woman's health history and genetic predispositions. There is a compromise on this issue. Talk to your doctor about taking the medication continuously and having a period every 3 or 4 months rather than stopping your period compl...

Re: Continuous cycle birth control
Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know of any risks or side effects associated with a continuous cycle? Violet Here's a good paper I found on the subject. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2621397/#!po=40.3846 In a study of the results of multiple previous studies, the only difference bet...

Continuous cycle birth control
For many women with PN or PNE, I know the pain often gets worse during your menstrual cycle, not to mention putting in tampons if you can, or the constant rubbing again a pad. I would suggest if you're on the pill, patch, or ring, to ask your doctor for a continuous cycle. You don't get your period ...

Re: Wife has PN/PNE - things are rough
How long did you try PT for? Have you tried any suppositories? In the height of my pain I got some relief from the Belladonna and opium ones. Plus a handful of oral medications. Enough to work 1/2 day. I had to take. FMLA for a very long time. I pray you get some relief... It sucks. I know. I tried...

Re: PN coccyx injury sleep jerk (hynpnagogic jerk)
Someone else with the sleep twitches! I'm not alone! I so wish I had an answer for you though... I've always had the hypnic jerks, though they are way bigger than most people's. They even happen when I'm awake, reading before I fall asleep. I don't think they're connected to my PN, but they do make ...

Re: Wife has PN/PNE - things are rough
Wife here, rare moment that I'm awake. Ganglia impar block didn't work, pain center literally gave me a refill and said they don't want to see me again. Saw an in home doctor yesterday, but he said it could be up to three weeks before I get someone for pain management. Appointment Monday with Dr. C ...
