Re: Scientific evidence for the role of muscle tightness in

Oh, I think everyone's in agreement that it's saddle compression that caused the issue - especially given that the spinal and pelvic mri scans showed nothing. But that doesn't explain why standing up cycling, or handcycling, would cause problems. Also, it's definitely my dorsal nerve alone that's be...

Re: Scientific evidence for the role of muscle tightness in

Thanks for your respective comments. I'd make the comment that this was definitely brought on by 4 years cycling in one way or another. Most likely saddle compression - my perineum and back passage are fine; it's only the penis that isn't. I'd imagine tight muscles in the pelvis would be located fur...

Re: Scientific evidence for the role of muscle tightness in

MC1000, I have found that almost all forms of exercise (including walking) can flare my pn, so I gave up on trying to exercise. But, I think I can exercise my arms (e.g., lift weights) when I'm lying on my back without a flare. Is that what a hand bike does? Yeah, pretty much. Only uses the biceps,...

Scientific evidence for the role of muscle tightness in PN?

More issues with my cycling induced pudendal neuropathy! Basically, i haven't ridden a bike since May, when the numbness in my penis spread all the way to the tip. In that time, I've been trying to figure out exercise options, and have sought advice from many NHS urologists and neurologists, and als...

Re: Advice re. exercise

Nothing about this makes sense. Notwithstanding the fact that the compression has been removed from the equation, and yet still seems to be getting worse, there are logical inconsistencies as well with the compression of the dorsal nerve. My glans has a good level of sensation, whereas my foreskin d...

Re: Advice re. exercise

Yeah, it makes sense, except that i have no symptoms at any point behind the perineum. It's all at the front. Indicates that the only injury is compression, which logically you'd assume would stop developing once the source of the compression - ie the saddle - was removed from the equation. Which it...

Re: Advice re. exercise

Seriously, i don't get it. This is really bad. Any kind of exercise just makes everything worse. How? The overriding medical opinion seems to be that it's a consequence of saddle compression. But if that's the case, why would it get worse if I'm not actually continuing to compress it? It really is l...

Re: Advice re. exercise

Also... I have seen a PT (privately, which is why i can't afford any more private healthcare) . I havr a tilted pelvis and my pelvic floor is very tight. Cause or effect though? I have no way of knowing. Cycling wouldn't help muscle tightness, but then neither does the anxiety and depression of doin...

Re: Advice re. exercise

Hi MC, I spent the better part of 2 years in bed after being really fit, so I understand to some extent what you are experiencing except that I was in bed because it was too painful to sit or stand. Are you staying in bed because it relieves your symptoms of numbness? I think you said you don't hav...

Advice re. exercise

I've posted here a number of times recently, with a resurgence of penis and scrotum numbness and moderate sexual dysfunction, brought on by cycling an average of 200 miles a week (more recently 300) for the last 3 years or so. There's very little pain - just numbness and dysfunction. I'm posting in ...
