my pyschiatrist has given me valium to be used when my anxiety attacks become too extreme to be controlled by breathing and relaxation techniques. What can I expect to happen when I take 5mg pill?

Is xanax something bad to be on for anxiety for a long time? I need something for anxiety,but want to avoid SSRI's because of the withdraw that can potentially make pgad worse... I know xanax is considered addictive. but is it safer than an ssri? hi, i'm new here,xanax is good medication for anxiet...
