Re: Surgery -- Only for the truly desperate? (Aszmann/Lakhiani)
Sorry to hear that you are going through this and I hope that you will still see improvement later on. Who ended up doing your surgery? The PTs are generally telling me to avoid surgery. I can’t say that the surgeons are exactly pushing me to surgery, just telling me it’s an option if I want it and ...

Surgery -- Only for the truly desperate? (Aszmann/Lakhiani)
Hoping to hear some thoughts on this conundrum. I’m 36 and I’ve had pudendal neuralgia for over a decade now, and it’s not going to go away by itself. There is no doubt in my mind that the pudendal nerve is involved – I’ve had positive pudendal nerve blocks, all of the symptoms are on one (the left)...

Re: Does Struan Coleman at HSS have a different surgical approach specifically for pelvic pain?
Violet, at this point, I am pretty sure that I have tried everything short of surgery, and I now have had this problem for over 10 years. So I think the options are (1) do nothing; or (2) get surgery. What is stopping me from getting surgery is that my symptoms are… not THAT bad, certainly compared ...

Re: Does Struan Coleman at HSS have a different surgical approach specifically for pelvic pain?
Hi there: I had hip arthroscopy with Dr. Coleman (he was in-network with my insurance at the time). Unfortunately, he does not have any special or magical technique relating to pelvic pain; it's just a regular hip scope. He may have some technique to make it less likely to cause pudendal-related sid...

Re: Stenting/May-Thurner Syndrome
Same, unfortunately. No ill effects of the stent, but no improvement on the PN symptoms. I am potentially going to get another MRI to see if the stenting got rid of the varices. If it did, that means that the varices were not the cause of the problem and were an incidental finding.

Re: Stenting/May-Thurner Syndrome
No ill effects from the stenting, but so far no effect, positive or negative, on the pudendal nerve. I think that, at any rate, it would take some time for the varicose veins to stop being dilated, and then after that possibly some more time for nerve symptoms to decrease. Too early to tell so far.

Re: Stenting/May-Thurner Syndrome
Hi everyone, I went ahead and had my iliac vein stented today, after consulting with several interventional radiologists and vascular surgeons. While having a permanent implant is somewhat scary, they all said that the rates of problems for people without a history of DVT are extremely low, and my i...

Stenting/May-Thurner Syndrome
Hello everyone, I wanted to see if there is anyone on the forum that has experience with varicose veins within the pelvis potentially contributing to their pudendal nerve symptoms. About a year ago, I had a 3T MRI conducted at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York- supposedly the best of the ...

Re: Surgery Option w/ Dr. Dellon
Thanks for the update and do keep us posted as to your further recovery. Would be great to see how you're doing 3 months and 6 months down the line. Were you able to get your insurance to pay for some or all of the procedure, by the way? If the TG approach is considered experimental by many, I imagi...

Re: Dr. De Bisschop/Transperineal Approach
Hi Chenonceau! I am very glad that the post operative recovery is going well for you, though it is unfortunate that it has brought you only minimal results so far. Please keep us updated as the months progress, I wish all the best for you. Are you as active as you were before the surgery in terms of...
