Re: What do They Mean "Pain on Sitting" EXACTLY?
I do wonder if it is partly due to muscle atrophy or wastage as these muscles that we use for sitting are simply never or seldom used as we avoid sitting like the plague. These would lead to less blood supply and wastage which then becomes part of a vious circle, add in hypersensitivity to the area...

Re: Does Anyone Have PN/PNE and Coccyx Problems?
Hi everyone, Thanks for your replies - I will read about Levitor Ani Syndrome No-one has mentioned SIJD to me, it's something that I will look into. I think I need a plastic pelvis for Christmas as my grasp of anatomy is sketchy to say the least :) Still, we're all learning and we have to, as we hav...

What do They Mean "Pain on Sitting" EXACTLY?
When my symptoms started, the main ones were a foreign body in the vagina and vulval burning. When my doctor asked if I had 'pain on sitting' I replied "Yes", which presumably was part of the diagnostics for PN/PNE. At the time, it felt exactly as it would if I really did have a foreign bo...

Does Anyone Have PN/PNE and Coccyx Problems?
Hi, I've had the symptoms of PN/PNE and been examined by a PN specialist doctor. I was not at this point having any pain from the coccyx. When he examined me, he said that my coccyx was tender too and told me to use a coccyx cut out cushion. I have never had an injury to the coccyx, but spent years ...

Hi Karyn,
I guess 'further research is needed' on this one! I'll let you know if I can manage to find out

Re: Nerve Block Question(s)
Hi, Thanks for the replies both of you. I know that steroid injections "are a long term therapeutic attempt and in some cases they will decrease the nerve inflammation. This can take days or weeks, and improvement may be temporary or permanent. This delay explains why physicians prefer a delay ...

Nerve Block Question(s)
I've just had a bilateral nerve block and unfortunately I went very wobbly afterwards, so was unable to talk to the doctor again to ask him questions. What would happen if a 'normal' pain free person was injected with local anasthetic next to their pudendal nerve? Surely they would be numb in that a...

Re: Help In Scotland ?
Hi Joan, I've seen Dr Greenslade in Bristol early this year. I went to see him privately for the first appointment (£250) and then transferred to the NHS. The NHS waiting time is about 12 weeks now I think. You do need a referral from your GP to go and see him privately. I was really worried about a...

Re: STILL HAVING PROBLEMS CONTACTING THE BRISTOL TEAM
I had trouble contacting her in February. I left a few messages on the voicemail with no luck.
I did find that there was a reasonable chance of her answering the phone if you called between about 9.02 am and 9.10am .. and don't forget to say 'abracadabra' ...

Re: Has anyone been told to sit down MORE to cure PN?
Hi Helen, The suggestion about the yeast infection causing pudendal irritation sounds plausible. I've started having some PT with a PN aware physio from Maeve Whelan's list, I've had five sessions so far, but I'm not sure if it's helping yet. The physio told me that it will take about ten sessions t...
