Re: Sacral Stimulator Implant for PN updated 3/6/15
Hey I know it's been a while: Yes, I still see Dr. Ross every 3 months to refill the pump. I have a bupivacaine and fentanyl in the pump. I am still on some time release morphine but I have recovered to the point that some days I feel normal. PN pain is still a daily friend most days but I can manag...

Re: Story of Pain pump at L5 Retrgrade to S1/S2 update 6 MAY
Just an update on how things are going with the pump. The past month has been crazy my wife has surgery in Boston and the hotel bookings were messed up so I was driving 2 hours each way for three days and staying 6-7 hours on my feet. After that it was 2 ER visits, 3 unscheduled doctors appointments...

Re: Story of Pain pump at L5 Retrgrade to S1/S2 update MAR 1
your symptoms are very familiar to me, you remembered correctly, my left PN had scarred onto one of the ligaments, entangled it'self in a vascular bundle, and had gotten compressed on by the falciform process. All of this was natural growth or damage over time, nothing was a result of the first TIR,...

Re: Story of Pain pump at L5 Retrgrade to S1/S2 update MAR 1
A big improvement with the pump is that the opiates are not in your blood stream. I have fentanyl in my pump and it does not affect me. But when I tried the fentanyl patch I could barely stay awake. I only take one pill every 8 hour compared to 3-4 before. Right now I am much more alert than when I ...

Re: Story of Pain pump at L5 Retrgrade to S1/S2 update MAR 1
Update on 29MAR16: Just a quick update on how things are going. The pump is working well and we are still continuing to adjust the dosage every 3 months. My overall PN condition has not changed, but the pump continues to get better. As a result, I still can not sit, but with the severity of the dama...

Re: pain meds and constipation
The Doctor sounds like she is correct, the thing I think she is used to seeing is someone with either impacted colons on one side of the scale or IBS on the other side. Soluble fiber has two purposes, it has the ability to dissolve into the blood stream and is good for heart health and cholesterol. ...

Re: Aching after nerve block wears off?
It sounds like to me, you are correct in that the shot is wearing off. I also, got really intense leg cramps in the middle of the night a for few weeks after every injection. It seems pretty common with steroid shots in general not just PN. S2, where the PN nerve connects to the spine also runs down...

Re: pain meds and constipation
Ok part two, Normally the puborectalis takes the brunt of the load of holding stool in, and it them relaxes to let the stool descend. And the two anal sphincters are the "seal". But anal sphincters in my case are "lazy" due to them being controlled by my damaged PN making the pub...

Re: pain meds and constipation
Kathy, First you are not crazy, I have similar symptoms. Take a look here to see the anatomy of the PN, it clearly shows how the PN controls the anal sphincter and how it is tied into the bowels. You can click on the image to see the different parts of the body. http://bit.ly/1L1joGy I have permanen...
