pulsed radiofrequency

Recently we had a discussion on where we might get pulsed radioifrequency treatments for pelvic nerve problems. I e-mailed Cleveland Clinic and asked if they would do it on PFCN and eventually received a nice letter replying "yes, that is something they do". I assume they would also work o...

Re: Scary reaction of nerve block

Yes Violet, a preservative is certainly something to consider but there again why wouldn't it have shown up in the first four nerve blocks. Perhaps they have just been too close together, Oct. Nov. Dec. and now in March. I must discuss it with the doctor of course but I hate to do anything to preven...

Re: Scary reaction of nerve block

Thank you all for your replies. I tend to agree with Her Majesty about the doctor missing the mark this time. Seems to me it must have gotten into my bloodstream to cause a central nervous system response so quickly. I've had about 5 nerve blocks, 2 diagnostic and I never take a sedative so an aller...

Scary reaction of nerve block

Yesterday I had another cluneal nerve block in a series of 3 and had a strange reaction. I had difficulty walking and talking and my tongue felt funny. It may have been swollen. I was just like a drunk trying to form words and staggering when I walked. Unfortunately the only one left in that area wa...

More MRN machines

When I visited Dr. Howard last week and asked about a script to have a Potter MRN he said it was no longer necessary to go to New York City as the machine was now available right in Rochester. I would suspect it is also available in many other cities now which would greatly reduce wait time. Don't k...

Re: Confusing initials

Nearly everything is a mystery when you're first starting down this road Calluna. Examples of whar I meant are initals like PGAD that are discussed in threads and some like TOT and LAVH at the bottom of postings in patient histories. Many I have been able to figure out from the anatomy section but o...

Confusing initials

I'm confused by all the initials used to describe various conditions and diagnoses. I've searched the site for somewhere to find definitions but was unsuccessful. Are other newbies confused too? Where might I look? The more we learn about this condition the better able we are to figure out our own s...

Re: Instant diagnosis from nerve block possible?

Hi Barbara, Sorry it took me so long to see your posting on this thread but I had pelvic surgery with Dr. Howard on the 17th and haven't been on computer much. Yes, every prospective patient has to fill out about a 12 page questionnaire to apply to be a patient of his. He only sees patients 2 days a...

Re: hello, after 2 pudendal surgeries, looking to help other

Thanks for posting your story Carl. It sure seems nice to hear about someone having good results. Hope you continue to recover nicely and can get on with a normal life.

Karyn, did you have good results with this Dr. also?
