Re: Meningitis from Nerve block injections?

Hi Lexie, Sorry for the delay...I've been offline for a while. Dr. Antolak told me that the larger pain practice he's part of did use steroids from the New England Compounding Center for spinal injections, but that none of his patients had gotten any. I work in pharma manufacturing, and I can say th...

Meningitis from Nerve block injections?

Hi everybody - I'm going in for a nerve block with Dr. Antolak next month, and the recent news of preservative-free methylprednisolone acetate with fungal contamination provided by the New England Compounding Center (http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-204_162-57526249/meningitis-outbreak-may-affect-more-th...

Re: Is MRN with Filler Worth it?

HerMajesty, I see that you did fine with self care for years. I'm doing reasonably well with self care plus some meds. I'm wondering if anything in particular started the worsening of your symptoms. The more I find out, the more I think that as long as I'm in my current shape I don't want to mess ar...

Re: Is MRN with Filler Worth it?

Actually, HM, I saw my neurologist today and he was asking basically the same question: OK, so they ID a problem in the pudendal nerve, what now? He was saying that I already know I have a problem, so what use is the imaging? I would be pleased to have some validation, even though I don't really hav...

Re: Is MRN with Filler Worth it?

Yes after exploring this site, I'm pushing to get the Hollis Potter MRI. She's actually in-network for me, so even forgetting the other factors with Filler, it makes sense to go with her first. And she seems to be getting much more useful information for her patients on this site. I'm seeing my neur...

Re: cushion ideas

To be honest, my best cushion was suggested by Dr. Antolak in a phone consultation. (See http://www.perineology.com/files/antolak-athens2006.pdf). Basically all it is is a gardener's kneeling pad ($10 at Lowes) with a rectangle cut out of it so the butt, perineum, and genitals are suspended. The foa...

Exercise with PN/PNE

I can see that this topic comes up from time to time, but what do you do for exercise with PN/PNE? I was an avid cyclist until the pain arrived suddenly. I'm grateful to be able to say that my pain is managed fairly well with amitriptyline and Lyrica. (amitriptyline seems to help the most, but side ...

Re: Is MRN with Filler Worth it?

Helen,
Just to check, the UK physio is a US physical therapist, correct? Has this helped you some? As I understand it, they can help to relax the pelvic floor, which can help relieve some symptoms. Is that about right?

Re: Is MRN with Filler Worth it?

Thanks everybody for your replies. I'm thinking I'm going to go ahead an get the MRN to see what it shows, though I'm going to take a look at Hollis Potter before I decide for sure. So far I've gone through some standard neurological testing and a standard pelvic MRI, and it all basically came back ...

Is MRN with Filler Worth it?

Hi Everybody, My first post. I've been dealing with PN pain for about 18 months. The pain is controlled reasonably well with amitriptylene and Lyrica, but I have to limit my activity significantly. I'm gaining weight, and feel like I'm getting more and more unhealthy. I'm considering further options...
