Re: Where is the ENTRANCE to Alcock's Canal?
My impression is what ezer says just above 3 on Beco's drawing and on the image in the next post, the 'entrance' would be at the clear looking sheath structure right after the inferior rectal branch takes off--then you're 'entering' Alcock's canal.

Re: Newbie - Cycling Induced Symptoms?
And another thing -- If you take up power walking, avoid hills and staircases. Walking on flat surfaces is fine but walking up an incline puts undue pressure on the nerve. Walking down inclines is fine, though. The pudendal nerve is very finicky and easy to irritate. If you follow our advice and ta...

Yep. For now. Count me among the unashamed. I think we have used it 4 times in 6 months. I don't get out much to places for 'fun' like the floral shop, to get my wife some flowers for her birthday last month. That was one, and 2 doctor visits, and the 3T MRI in Richmond: I think that's it. Have alwa...

Re: Newbie--Pudendal Nerve Entrapment at Obturator Internus
Welcome! Are you able to post the report for us? My understanding is that the medial fascia of the obturator internus m. is what forms "Alcock's canal", also termed "Pudendal canal" or "Obturator canal". The nerve can get injured, entrapped, whacked, etc at many differe...

Re: Cymbalta questions
Hi, All the SSRIs can cause those symptoms when you first start them, and usually go away after 2 or 3 days (and with each dose adjustment). Sometimes they don't go away. I always start low dose and gradually increase them, to try and avoid those side effects (headaches, nausea, diarhea, jitteriness...

Re: UNBELIEVABLE!!!
For as long as you've been around on the forums, you've NEVER heard of ANYONE apply for a handicapped permit?!?! No, I never have, or I wouldn't have said so. Two people have spoken up, one had it only pre-op. So, now I'm not even sure it's a common practice even in this population. Obviously I'd h...

Re: Pudendal neuralgia and other neuropathies
Pamelor (nortriptyline) has less side effects than Elavil (amitriptyline) overall, but maybe not quite as effective-- though nortriptyline is what amitriptyline is converted to in the body as the active metabolite. Less dry membranes (why I changed, nosebleeds/irritation), constipation, sedation and...

Re: Has anyone heard PROCTALGIA FUGAX
I believe you have made the correct diagnosis and am sorry you had to go through it. Most doctors at least have heard of it --unlike PN-- and can give you the reassurance you already received here. Many will go to the ER the pain is so severe, only to find by the time that they are seen, the pain is...

Re: ergonomic laptop table
I could have sworn I hit the submit button, but guess I didn't.? This laptop table, was a Christmas present 2009 from my wife's sister. I am blessed to still be able to lie supine. Arms get a workout but I need to keep some muscles  http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g250/desolesjr/Family_Peopl...
