Re: Muscle cramps after nerve blocks?

Neil and blightcp, I hope these most recent blocks are more helpful than they have been in the past. Best wishes! I'm very glad to hear your new meds are helping, Neil! Are you tolerating the side effects well enough? Kind regards, Karyn Hi Helen and Karyn Thanks for the good wishes. My pain was do...

Re: Muscle cramps after nerve blocks?

Blightcp and Budgie, Thanks for sharing your experience. I think its because the pudendal nerve is close to the sciatic nerve so some of the injection can get caught up in that nerve as well. You may be on to something there .... Has this been confirmed by anyone administering the injections? After...

Re: Muscle cramps after nerve blocks?

I've had 5 nerve blocks done and each time I've had cramping muscles in the back of the legs and also in my feet. If you notice, they make sure you can walk OK before discharging you from the hospital after the procedure. This is because it can affect the legs. I think its because the pudendal nerve...

Re: ...meds not working

Hi Pizzarios. Hope things are improving for you. What Helen said in the last post is absolutely correct. Physio can and often does flare things up before it settles again. I've been having physio in the UK for some years now and that nearly always flares things up for a day or so afterwards. Hang in...

Re: 10 hours after block

Hi edujaso Was it a CT guided nerve block? Usually the consultant will inject a steroid and something like Lidocaine to numb the area around the nerve. Did you have it under sedation? If so, there will probably still be some of that in your system (as well as the steroid and Lidocane) which will als...

Re: ...meds not working

No problem pizzarios. Glad the meds and/or the pt have started to have some effect. :D For a long time I've said I'd like to be pain/drug free but sometimes you just have to accept what you've got and try and deal with it in the best way possible. Usually that means utilising several different thing...

Re: ...meds not working

Hi pizzarios. Sorry to hear you're really suffering at the moment - we've all been there if that's any consolation - probably not! Firstly, the dose of Gabapentin you're on is quite low. I've taken Gabapentin for years and take 2800mg per day. Its one of those drugs that takes a while to get into yo...

Re: Massive pain flare after nerve block

Thanks Helen Yes, I am indeed with Dr Baranowski. I've seen two different pain management people before. The first one prescribed the Gabapentin and Tramadol, which kept things reasonable for quite a few years. However, I then started to get a deterioration so saw a Dr Munglani in Cambridge. He gave...

Re: Massive pain flare after nerve block

Hi Helen I think the Nantes team can do some nerve conductivity tests. I also think my pain management guy has a team of people and one of those does it too. However, he's not mentioned that to me and I forgot to ask when I saw him a few weeks ago. I guess though that he is just interested in easing...

Re: BUPENORPHINE TRANSDERMAL STUDY

Interesting. I tried Buprenorphine patches for several months a while ago and they did very little, if anything, for my pain. In fact, they massively increased my pelvic floor muscle spasms and I had to start on 1/4 patch for one week, then half a patch for a week before progressing to a full one. N...
