Re: Recommendations

Having a 3T MRI on Monday, hoping to get something show up. I can feel the burning either side of the coccyx. And the symptoms of numbness and dysfunction with no improvement in 4 months. I’m on the waiting list for the Australian surgeon. 6 months though. A lot of people are telling me to just get ...

Re: Recommendations

I called them a few weeks ago and they put me onto the doctor with the 6 - 7 month waiting list. There’s a doctor in Melbourne who I believe does the injections etc. Honestly Australia needs to get with it with this issue. People shouldn’t have to seek out this hard to find treatment and wait ridicu...

Re: Recommendations

Yeah he’s a 6 - 7 month waiting list! I’ve already had this for 4 months now. It just seems too long. Can I request 3T MRI from any doctor? I’m finding it hard to find anywhere in Australia that does 3T. Yeah I may have to consult overseas. Are you in Australia also? Did you have a problem here as w...

34 yr old Male. I’ve posted previously about an injury I sustained. I landed on my buttocks/lower back after losing consciousness and was diagnosed with a coccyx fracture. From then (4 months ago) until now, I have had persistent numbness to the penis, scrotum, and buttock region. It significantly i...

Re: Penile numbness/loss of sensation

Thanks Violet. I had already got a referral in to Jason Chow. I’m not sure if he does surgery to release the nerve if there is an issue (given the numbness has not improved at all 4 months in), but I’ll be sure to discuss it with him. It did say he does robotic surgery but I’m unsure as to what that...

Re: Penile numbness/loss of sensation

Thank you.
Ah the referral was a dud. It was to a urologist who really didn’t know. They knew nothing about this condition at all. At the moment I’m stuck with Pelvic floor physio. And the sensation hasn’t returned at all at 3.5 months. There’s a lot to be learnt in regards to this nerve.

Re: Penile numbness/loss of sensation

Penile numbness UPDATE: Neurologist gave a working diagnosis and suspects I have pudendal neuralgia. Hi, I’m new here. 34M with 3 months of numbness in penis and scrotum. The circumstances in which it came on are confusing. I was in the middle of a mycoplasma pneumonia infection that had me bedridd...

Re: Penile numbness/loss of sensation

Thanks violet.

Neurologist today diagnosed me with pudendal neuralgia. Is referring me to a clinic here for it.
He thinks it’s related directly to the injury, and has ruled out neurological cause.

Any men recovered from this with penile numbness?

Re: Penile numbness/loss of sensation

Yeah the PT mentioned the nerve block probably being counter productive for me as I already have the numbness. I saw a urologist today who gave steroids (prednisone) to maybe aid recovery, I don’t know. And something to take called Cabergoline. He says nerve damage takes a long time to heal. He put ...

Re: Penile numbness/loss of sensation.

Thanks for the comment April. Cauda equina syndrome was the first suspicion when I presented to hospital. MRI of spine, mri of lumbar spine as well as CT scan ruled it out according to the hospital. There was then a further pelvic mri which only picked up a fracture to the coccyx, with no nerve dama...
